December 2008 Update

In Avaya we have ongoing problems with GPS and the PIP plan. I believe that the company is creating problems with senior Senior Technicians in order to push them out the door when they offer a VTP (Voluntary Termination Pay). We are currently gathering information to file an age discrimination case with the National Labor Relations Board.

Avaya has also decided that their salesmen would make more money if they gave ALL of the provisioning work (installations) to business partners. About three years ago we arbitrated the use of business partners but the arbitrator denied our grievance. The company at that time claimed that the business partners actually brought work into Services. That is no longer the case. We will either start another grievance or start an unfair labor practice against Avaya for systematically depleting the bargaining unit.
