LOCAL 827 PETER J. CASEY SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2007-2008


It is time once again to call for a scholarship application for your son/daughter in his or her senior year of High School.

1. All applications must be received at Local 827 Union Headquarters by January 31, 2008.

2. Each scholarship is for $1,000.00, and will be awarded to two (2) students per Unit.

3. For scholarship applications, please call Local Union Headquarters at (609) 443-4100.

4. All applications received are forwarded to Rutgers University for consideration. The Office of University Undergraduate Admissions Committee makes the selections.

In addition, IBEW offers other Scholarships:

· An IBEW Founder's Scholarship for IBEW members only (this does not include spouses or children). This scholarship is for IBEW members who have been in continuous good standing for the four years proceeding May 1st of the scholarship year. You can visit the IBEW web site (www.ibew.org) for more information and a printable application.

· A Union Plus Scholarship for IBEW members, as well as member's spouses and dependent children. The Union Plus Scholarship application can be accessed online at www.unionplus.org.


Applications for these Scholarships are also available in Union Headquarters.

As described in the 2003 Collective Bargaining Agreement a 2% wage increase is scheduled to take affect on August 5, 2007. This year is the first year that the negotiated Cost Of Living Allowance would take affect if the "CPI-W" exceeds 2%. The Cost Of Living Adjustment for this year is .38%. This equates to a total wage increase of 2.38%.

The following are the Verizon existing top rates and the new top rates effective Sunday, August 5, 2007:

Corporate Profit Sharing

The Company has informed us that the Corporate Profit sharing award is $784.00 for plan year 2006. This CPS award will be prorated for part time employees and those who participated more than 3 months and less than 12 months.

You can elect to contribute the entire amount into your 401K savings plan. If you elect to contribute into your 401K Savings and Security Plan, the CPS award will be contributed on a pretax basis and the first 6% will be treated as a basic contribution for purposes of the Company match.
