Avaya Update 25                                            June 3, 2009 <p>   AFTER WEEKS OF EXTREMELY DIFFICULT BARGAINING, THE IBEW AND CWA HAVE COME TO A TENTATIVE THREE YEAR AGREEMENT WITH AVAYA. <p> AS BARGAINING PROGRESSED, IT BECAME INCREASINGLY CLEAR TO THE TEAM THAT HARD DECISIONS WOULD BE NECESSARY TO BRING HOME AN AGREEMENT THAT WOULD MEET THE NEEDS OF THE MEMBERSHIP AND PROTECT HEALTHCARE FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS AND RETIREES.   SOME TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT ARE: <p> LUMP SUM PAYMENT OF $1250 FOR 1ST YEAR WITH 2.75 IN 2010 AND 2.75 IN 2011 <p> 4% PENSION INCREASE FOR ACTIVES <p> IMPROVEMENT IN LUMP SUM OPTION <p> CONTINUATION OF ALLIANCE FUNDING <p> NINE MONTH JOB SECURITY ALL TITLES <p> ACTIVE MEMBER MEDICAL WITH NO PREMIUM PAYMENTS <p> RETIREE MEDICAL WITH NO PREMIUM PAYMENTS <p> CONTINUATION OF AVAYA AWARD <p> VOLUNTARY UNPAID EXCUSED WORK WEEK <p> CERTIFICATION BONUS SUSPENSION FOR 6 MONTHS <p> ONE YEAR SUSPENSION OF 401K MATCH  <p>     IBEW LOCAL AGREEMENT INCLUDES  <p> TERM PAY RETENTION <p> GPS LANGUAGE <p>   IMPROVEMENTS IN <p> MOVING EXPENSES <p> FUNERAL LEAVE LANGUAGE <p> “IN LIEU OF” MONEY FOR TEMPORARY REPORTING <p> WALKERS ALLOWANCES IN CHICAGO AND BOSTON <p> CHICAGO PER DIEM UP OTHER IBEW AREAS <p>   THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT  <p> THE IBEW BARGAINING TEAM <p> DENNIS SLAMAN – BARGAINING CHAIR <p> JOHN ROWLEY – VICE CHAIRMAN SCT-5 <p> GEORGEANNE SCARPELLI-BUSINESS AGENT LOCAL 827 <p>
